On November 17, 2015, vocalist David VanLanding died after being involved in an accident with a garbage truck in Clearwater Florida. It has not been reported how the accident happened. Van Landing was 51 years old. He was the singer for the regional band Mannekin from 1984-1990, afterwards touring with Tony MacAlpine on his Eyes Of The World tour. He was in Erotic Liquid Culture 1993-1996, Dr. Ruth, and Dark Star. He appeared on the Michael Schenker album The Michael Schenker Story Live in 1997 and toured with Schenker from 1996-1998, in 2011, and 2012. VanLanding was also vocalist for Crimson Glory on their tour and was friend to Crimson Glory singer Todd La Torre, now singer for Queensryche.

The death of Van Landing was first reported on his Facebook page where it was posted "It is sad to say to this day my good friend David VanLanding has passed away today due to a traffic accident with a another car." The comments poured in " ... I am so floored by this news. I just talked to him on my bday nov 13th. You will always be in our hearts my good friend" .... "I will keep you all posted on the news" .... "I loved you Dave" .... "You were my good friend. Prayers to you family and Pam your wife." The post went on "The immediate family of Dave VanLanding ask for your understanding and respect as we deal with the loss of David. The family will make an announcement once more details are known and arrangements are made. It is my own words to say that he was a great friend and touched so many millions of lives thur his music and his kindness …love you bro."

Michael Schenker issued a statement "Today we were told the very sad news that David VanLanding passed away in a traffic accident early yesterday morning. We are all lost for words at such a sudden tragic event taking David away from us. We last performed together in the USA, 2012, but had planned a special show together on the Axes and Anchors cruise; Feb, 2016. He will be deeply missed. A great voice and a charming man. My condolences go out to his family and many friends." Todd La Torre issued a statement "I am beyond devasted to learn that one of my best friends David VanLanding has passed away today from a car accident. He was full of life, love, and laughter. He is notably known for singing with Michael Schenker, and has a lifelong professional music career, but those who knew him best know him as a loving friend, husband, and sibling. My deepest condolences to his wife and family."

David VanLanding was always interactive with those he had contact with. Before his death, Robert Vannoy of Boothwyn, PA commented " I remember Mannequin at Hammerjacks. You and Tommy used to play a club in Wilmington DE I. Was the door man at called Union Station. When I would hear that Mirror Mirror was playing Hammerjacks I did my best to get there. You are an amazing talent and I am since all those years you are still in good voice. Tried to get to see you when you were the front of MSG but way to crazy to get back to see you. I hope all is well." David Replied, "Hi Robert, first of all let me apologize for not responding sooner! I was under the weather in a big way, the flu really knocked me on my ass and I was down for the count for about a was a rough one. Anyway, I really appreciate you writing and saying the kind words! Mirror Mirror was a cool band but unfortunately it was short lived...I ended up leaving and going out on tour with Tony Macalpine. After that tour I moved to Phoenix, AZ and took a little time off and well deserved one I might add. Well maybe one of these days we can meet and shake hands! Thanks again Robert and keep in touch anytime!....Take Care."

It was reported that VanLanding was going to appear with the Michael Schenker Group at the Axes & Anchors Cruise which will travel from the Port Of Miami to Florida Keys to Nassau, Bahamas and then back to Miami from February 20th to the 24th 2016. The Cruise will feature Michael Schenker, Zakk Wylde, Tracii Guns, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, Alex Skolnick, Gilby Clark, Dario Lorina, Randy Rhoads Remembered & Gabriel Ayala, Adelitas Way, Aranda, Black Night's Castle feat. Joe Stump, Falling Throught April, Flyleaf, Motionless In White, Thousand Foot Krutch. VanLanding was an excellent singer, followed his dreams, had many notable accomplishments, and will be greatly missed. R.I.P. David.
